Drones/Small Unmanned Aircraft (UAV)
Leeds East Airport is protected with a Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ) that extends 2nm from the airport. It is illegal to fly any drone at any time within the Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ) unless you have permission.
If you are intending to operate a drone within the FRZ please submit your request at Air Portal.

Applications must be submitted 5 days prior to drone operation. You will require your CAA Operator ID and Pilot Flyer IDs to make the application. A fee of £30 inc VAT applies for commercial operators and must be paid prior to any permit being issued.

Cranes / Tall Equipment
If you are intending to operate a crane or other tall equipment above 10m AGL within a 6km of the airport please submit your request at Air Portal.
Applications must be submitted 4 weeks prior to crane operation. A permit fee of £240 inc VAT applies and must be paid prior to any permit being issued.
Please note cranes and tall equipment operating at or above 100m AGL must also be notified to the Civil Aviation Authority via ACOMS, regardless of proximity to airports or the height of surrounding structures.
